The 33rd Administration, under the leadership of Grand Polemarch Thomas L. Battles, implemented new initiatives to propel and sustain the fraternity’s growth. During the 82nd Grand Chapter meeting 4th business session, held August 15, 2015, New Orleans, LA, Grand Polemarch Battles asked the body to ratify his creation of a Commission on Military and Veterans Affairs. Kappa Alpha Psi Commission on Military and Veterans Affairs was established with the goal of the Commission to offer programs and services related to the needs of Veterans. Veterans have made an important contribution to the community by their service in the Armed Forces of this Nation, and Kappa Alpha Psi is committed to showing its commitment and support for all of its brothers who have served.
Recognize military members and veterans for their military and public service. Establish outreach programs to inform Veterans about benefit, support youth, and military mentoring programs. Provide assistance and support to family members.
The Wilmington (DE) Alumni Chapter and Wilmington Chapter of the Silhouettes sponsored its Homeless Veterans Sock and Clothing Drive during the months of January and February 2025. Throughout the drive, the Wilmington (DE) Alumni Chapter collected over 5 boxes of new socks and gently worn clothing.
The purpose of the drive was to provide clothing to veterans who are homeless and/or re-entering the workforce. The clothing drive was sponsored as party of the Wilmington (DE) Alumni Chapter’s Community Outreach program, as well as the Grand Polemarch’s Veterans Affairs initiative.
On Thursday March 6, 2025, the brothers of the Wilmington (DE) Alumni Chapter delivered the clothing to veterans who were staying at the Pearl Center (Delaware Center for Homeless Veterans), which is an organization that helps to provide safe, affordable housing, along with supportive services for veterans in need.
During the visit, the brothers thanked the veterans that were present for their service to our country and hoped that the clothing provided a useful benefit. The veterans and staff at the Delaware Center for Homeless Veterans were very appreciative.
